Terms & policies
How lessons, payments, packs and cancellations work. Booking a lesson means you agree to these terms. Last updated 1 November 2026.
Lessons
- Lessons are one-on-one, online on Zoom, with a shared whiteboard. Our tutors are secondary students.
- We agree a lesson time with you by email. Most families keep the same time each week.
- Parents are welcome to sit in on any lesson. For younger children, please have an adult nearby.
- We record lessons so we can check on lesson quality and look into any concerns. Recordings are private: only the A+ Academy owner can watch them, only when it's needed, and we never share them unless the law requires it. We delete them after 30 days.
- Please don't share the lesson link with anyone else.
- We send a short progress note to the parent's email after every lesson.
Free trial lesson
Each child can have one free 30-minute trial lesson. There's no obligation to book more.
Prices
- Our current prices are on the home page. Prices are for one-hour lessons; shorter lessons are charged pro rata (for example, 30 minutes is half the hourly price).
- A+ Academy is not registered for GST, so no GST is charged.
- We'll email you at least 4 weeks before any price change. Lesson packs you've already paid for keep the price you paid.
Paying
- After each lesson we email your progress note with an invoice. Please pay by bank transfer within 7 days, using the invoice number as the reference.
- If an invoice is more than 14 days overdue, we may pause lessons until it's paid.
Lesson packs
- Term pack: 10 lessons, used within 16 weeks. Semester pack: 20 lessons, used within 32 weeks. The time limit starts from your first pack lesson.
- Packs are paid upfront, by bank transfer, within 7 days of the invoice.
- Use them at your pace: one or two lessons a week. Each progress note shows how many lessons you have left, and we'll remind you before you run out.
- A pack is for one child, unless we agree otherwise.
- If we cancel a lesson, it goes back into your pack and the time limit is extended.
- Lessons not used within the time limit expire. Need more time because of illness or a holiday? Ask before it ends and we'll usually extend it.
- Holiday programs, such as the Summer head start, are paid upfront and follow the same rules.
Leaving a pack early
You can stop at any time. We refund the lessons you haven't used, after charging the lessons you have used at the normal single-lesson price.
Example: a Term pack for Year 4 costs $380. After 4 lessons, those 4 are charged at $40 each ($160), so we refund $220.
If you need to cancel
- 24 hours' notice or more: no charge, and a pack lesson isn't used. Email us and we'll try to find another time.
- Less than 24 hours' notice, or a missed lesson: charged in full, or counted as a pack lesson. We may waive this, for example for sudden illness.
- If your child joins late, the lesson still finishes at the usual time.
If we cancel
We'll tell you as early as we can. You can choose a make-up lesson, usually within 2 weeks, or not pay for that lesson (in a pack, the lesson goes back into your pack). The same applies if a lesson is cut short by a problem on our side.
Safety and behaviour
- We talk with parents by email. Tutors don't message students outside lessons.
- We never post photos or recordings of students. We ask only for what we need to teach: your child's name, year level and, sometimes, their school. We never ask for photos or dates of birth.
- We expect everyone in a lesson to be respectful. We may end a lesson, or stop lessons, if behaviour is unsafe or abusive.
Results
We work hard to help every child improve, but we can't guarantee particular marks or test results.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
